Simon (aka Zorro)

Simon (aka Zorro), the burnt doggie rescued from Eerste Rivier, is being adopted by his foster mum Jenny where he will also join Bolt and 2 other African Tail graduates! Him and Bolt, who it 20 times his size by the way, are best buddies and play all day.
Layla

Layla, our rare and beautiful Dalmatian/Collie mix, has landed with her paws in the butter. She joins Sheena, a recent African Tails graduate, at her sea side home. Thank you Kevin for welcoming a second African Tailer into your home!
Jasper

Jasper (left) was one of the lucky ones to make it out of Eerste Rivier on our recent mass steri there. We are happy to re”paw”t that he found his niche in a foster home, where him and his Labby foster sister wear one another out with their enthusiasm for life and play doggie in the middle for hours with the sausage dog!
Zack

Odie

Odie was dumped on the N7 outside Malmesbury. He was taken into foster care and after weeks of trying to find him a forever home, the foster family decided to keep him. He has two Jack Russel siblings and they all get on fabulously!
Koos

Koos was found by chance by us in Eerste River. His owner up and left Koos behind and the guy who looked after him happened to pass us with Koos following him. A golden oldie, he was fostered and then adopted by a family in Hermanus, but unfortunately he had to be euthanased as he was suffering from severe kidney failure. At least he has a little time in a loving home. RIP Koos, we will remember you.
Bonnie

Nutella, Melrose & Lily

Nutella, Melrose & Lily, rescued by us at a mass spay day out in Joe Slovo, were very weak and thin upon rescue. They grew into three beautiful babies. Lily was adopted by amazing African Tails supporters and friends, while both Nutella and Melrose went to equally amazing homes as well.
Kimmy

Kimmy was starved and very weak when she came to us via the Animal Rescue Organisation (ARO). After not too long in foster care she was adopted into an amazing forever home where she can now live happily ever after.
Thor

Tiga, Woolfy & Fluffles

Tiga, Woolfy and Fluffles , The All Boy Band has homes!... These 3 boys were rescued from living off the land in a desolate part of Du Noon. Complete strangers to human contact, they slowly warmed to the benefits of ear rubs and head scratches and tummy tickles in their foster homes. Their cute looks and puppy-dog charm have got them homes in a very short time. Tiga and Woolfy have gone to a lovely home together, while Fluffles has a wonderful new family of his own.
Pippa

PRINCESS PIPPA... This delicate, beautiful, gentle, soft-natured, fragile little girl was rescued from Strandfontein Road, where she was found wandering, scared, alone and tick-infested. After a short stint in foster care, she has found her happy ending in a wonderful home where she can use her cute looks to get tons of love, attention and treats! :)
Carole & Blondie

Carol & Blondie, two sisters born on Christmas Day whilst Christmas Carols were being sung (and then rescued by a lady called Carole) are 2 VERY cute, fluffy little female maltese X type puppy dogs. After really not long at all in foster care, they have been adopted into a really lovely family who live in Mossel Bay with 2 human-kids.
Bob

Bob... He is one of the quirkiest, cutest, longest, wiriest little dogs we’ve ever had on our books. Jax was rescued in Table View from being kicked down the road by cruel and violent homeless people. One lucky little boy who deserved the happy ending he got :)
Annie

Annie, with her distinctly golden Labrador looks, her ridgeback, and oozing cute-appeal, has found the home of her dreams. This loving, sweet, friendly little angel is one lucky girl!
Timmy & Tom Tom

Top Homes for Timmy & Tom Tom... These little sweeties were recently rescued from the townships during a mass sterilisation campaign. It took no time before they worked their way into people's hearts. Tom Tom was adopted into an amazing home at our January adoption day, while Timmy now has the happy ever after he deserves, and an adoptive-sibling, Sophia, one of our rescues from the end of 2010.
Clever

Clever Got A New 'Crib'... Due to a very unfortunate situation, Clever was back on our books and looking for a new home. This gorgeous boy is brother to Rolex and Nelson and as you can see, like his brothers, he is a handsome specimen! And because of this and his lovely nature, a family fell in love with him in a very short time. He is one lucky boy who has a second chance.
Brother & Sister

This beautiful brother and sister pair were rescued from a bergie in Observatory, who had been carrying them around in plastic bag in 40 degree heat. They are the cutest, cuddliest little bundles of puppy breath and fur and playfulness. We knew it wouldn't be long before they'd be snapped up, and they were. They can now live the lives they always dreamed of.
Bambi
Bambi... Rescued as a gorgeous 3 month old pup last year, with a love for cuddles, warm blankets, face licks and playtime, we knew it would not take too long to find this girl a home. And it didn't. In June 2010 she was snapped up into an amazing home where she has other dogs to play with and gets all the love she needs. Her dream home.
Rolex

Dogs of a Fur-ther Nap Together... Here's a pic of Nelson & Rolex, the brothers who reunited after over a year apart. From the same litter originally, Nelson (left) was adopted a year ago and by stroke of luck his owner ran into Rolex (right; one of our homeseeking hounds) and just couldn't say no. The rest is history...
Reena

Our fantastic vet’s namesake, Reena, was found collapsed from exhaustion, dehydration and biliary in the stormwater drain right outside African Tails Head Office in October 2010. After being taken in by our very own Lola, and after much TLC, Reena has found an amazing home to call her own. She has settled in well and even has a friend to play with. An amazing happy ending for a very special dog.
Lola (aka Eve)

Lola (aka Eve), rescued on Old Year’s Eve from indigent bergies had a rough start to life and was very sick. But after recovering and a stint in foster care, Eve has found the home of her dreams. Now named Lola, this affectionate girl with giraffe-long legs has been adopted by a wonderful family in Constantia with huge grounds and several other beautiful doggies (and horses) to play with. Not to mention 3 teenagers who were already fighting on day one over whos bed she should sleep!
Tazzi

Tazzi, an orphan rescued along with her siblings from Du Noon township during our spay day in Joe Slovo last year, has been adopted! This very sweet and loving little girl with a beautiful blonde coat peppered with brindle markings has been adopted by her foster mums mum and has other doggie friends and will see her ex-foster mum all the time. What a lucky girl!
Zelda

Zelda has been formally adopted by her devoted, doting foster home. Having been "viewed" by several potential homes and rejected time and again, Zelda's foster family have decided to make her a permanent fixture of their pack. Zelda's nightmare of being tied up beside a (burnt down) labourer's cottage on a farm for her puppyhood and early adult-life is behind her. She now indulges in the comfort of beds and couches and a true sense of belonging.
Pepi

Updated pic of Pepi from her owner.... Pepi was in foster care for a long time and eventually in June last year she found the home of her dreams. In the words of her owner, "... she is such a joy, full of beans and enjoying the security of a home and a large garden in which to run... [she] insisted on wearing her Christmas hat upside down.
Summer
Happiness is... Summer in her new home with her sister, Stella. It's a dog's life!
Busta

Updated pic of Busta (formally named Bruno) in his new home. He, along with his sister Sophia, were rescued from the old Mutual train station last year and were riddled with mange. As you can see he is one lucky mutt with a family to love him and comfy beds to lie on! Jeremy
Jeremy

Sweet little Jeremy, a male german shepherd cross whose life got off to a bad start, has been adopted into a wonderful loving home. He can now get the love and attention he deserves after his rough start to life...
Adam

An email from Adam's owner... "Adam has settled down beautifully and has doubled in size. He is into our routine and is giving us a great deal of pleasure. One ear is starting to stand up and he seems more German Shepherd these days... He and the cat (Crumpet) are staring to play but then Adam gets over excited and jumps on the cat which is not good for his dignity!..." We're glad to hear Adam is settling in nicely :)
Honey

Honey, the potato-pups‟ sister will never need to have a hundred ticks removed from her ears again as she too settle down in a loving, happy home and has already attended her first puppy training course!
Willow

This cute little Vissershok rescue pup actually overcame Parvo-virus. This means Willow is a little miracle girl who really deserves the best. And she got the best - a wonderful home to call her own.

This little girl was rescued from street people in Wynberg by some lady who phoned and asked us to take the pup in on our books. She has found the home of her dreams and can now live happily ever after.
Mi Kai

This little guy was rescued at 3 weeks old with his siblings. After much needed nurturing in his foster home, he was soon ready for the home he deserved. And boy did he get it. Lucky little guy!
Brandy

Brandy was rescued from being chained up in Joe Slovo township earlier this year. This friendly, sweet-natured and slighlty reserved girl came out of her shell in her foster home and then found the home of her dreams where she can live happily ever after.
The 3 Muskateers

The 3 Muskateers... These 3 little bundles of joy, Lulu (female), Jessie (female) and Balto (male) were rescued in the Grabouw area earlier this year. They were about 5 weeks old and very weak when rescued. After recouperating in a wonderful foster home getting showered with love and affection, these three all got wonderful permanent homes where the love and affection can continue - as we're sure they've gotten quite used to it ;)
The 3 B's

These little guys, Bob, Belly & Billy, were rescued from Philippi not so long ago and have been in foster care ever since. Their cute little faces were too much for potential adopters and they all got the wonderful homes they deserved. Lucky mutts!
Bella & Angel

These two little ones were rescued at our most recent mass sterilisation campaign. They are about 12 weeks old now and have been adopted into wonderful homes. What a score for these two little potential talents!
Phoenix: the biggest winner

When Phoenix was found, he was a one-year-old fully grown German Shepherd, but he weighed only 11kg. Just skin and bones, with a shattered back leg and clear signs of being tied up for most of his life, he was a picture of neglect and abuse. But the man who found (and later adopted) him took one look at his gentle eyes, and he knew that this dog had more to give. A year, a leg operation and a few good meals later, Phoenix is strong, healthy and full of love – living, running, bar king proof that it’s always possible to forgive and forget, and it’s worth holding out for someone who cares.
Rufus

Rufus may only have three legs, but he’s more balanced than any dog around. He was rescued at about 5 months old, and had lost a back leg on the rough township streets. Gentle and sweet, he’s a true nature lover, who doesn’t let his disability get in the way of his favourite outdoor pursuits – which unfortunately include digging up his new mom’s garden!
Rufan

Where do we start? Rufan was a one-year-old large dog when rescued. At least, that’s what he was supposed to be. Unfortunately, due to severe neglect, he weighed only 11kg when found, and looked like a walking skeleton. Optimistically nicknamed chubby by his fosters, he soon lived up to our greatest expectations, and now, his new owner even has him on diet!
Didi (rescued and adopted with her brother, Mickey)

Didi looked like an alien at first, thanks to a persistent case of mange. But even in her sorriest state, this 10-week old puppy had an even more persistent case of optimism that tugged on everyone’s heart (and guitar) strings. Today, she’s a healthy, happy girl who no longer needs to rely only on inner beauty to sing to your heart.
Max

All Max wanted for Christmas was a loving new home. Rescued by African Tails on Christmas Day, 2007, this magnificent mutt was a special gift indeed. A few weeks later, he got his wish, and started 2008 in a wonderful new home. Max’s “festive seasons” are now far more festive, with gifts of love received everyday.
Lulu

Lulu took her fate into her own paws one day, when she escaped from the children who were throwing her around and tumbled directly in front of our van. With her outgoing, happy-go-lucky personality, it didn’t take Lulu very long to forget her first interaction with human beings, and today, she greets everyone with a smile, and struts her stuff in Cape Town’s trendiest cafes.
Jerry

With only one eye and a history of neglect, Jerry was about to give up. Lying on the road as people stepped over him, he was spotted by a volunteer and rescued just in time. With some gentle care from a loving foster, he soon regained his positive outlook, and stole his owner’s heart in the blink of an eye.
Bugsy

Bugsy found it difficult to trust his rescuers, and bolted from a volunteer’s car at the first sign of escape. A five-day mutt-hunt ensued, and Bugsy kept his pursuers guessing by appearing each day in the haze of dawn but eluding everyone’s reach. Eventually, he was apprehended and sentenced to a lifetime of happiness and (stringent) security.
Stellar

Stellar (our 2009 calendar cover model) was rescued from Du Noon, where she spent the first five months of her life on a chain with no shelter and a wet sponge to sleep on. Today, she’s spends every warm, dry evening on her new owners’ bed with her adopted brother Raffy (Mr March 2009 calendar), where she counts her lucky stars each night.
Yahzi

When Yahzi was found at 10 weeks old she had almost no hair on her bony body. She was mangy, frightened and malnourished. But just a few months later, she’s happy, healthy and full of adventure. She’s also spoilt rotten by her doting human.
Izzy

Izzy was found on a rubbish dump in Du Noon township, discarded like trash. She was eight weeks old, starving and literally at death’s door. But after a visit to the vet, an urgent drip and a lot of love she made an unexpected recovery. What one person deems garbage is another person’s gem and that is what Izzy became, a darling gem. She’s an easy going and elegant dog, never without a wag in her tail. And she even gets to sleep on the bed.
