Adopt | Adoption Process

The African Tails adoption process includes:

View a dog

African Tails does not have a kennel facility, as all of our dogs are in foster homes. To find out about the dogs that are currently available, check out our homeseeking hounds, visit our Facebook page or subscribe to receive our email updates. Once you have seen a dog you like, please contact an African Tails representative to find out more about the specific dog. Or you can just call a representative and we will match your needs to one of our special doggies. Alternatively please visit one of our adoption days.

Site visit

Before we can make your adoption official, we’ll need to visit your home, to ensure that it’s a secure and suitable home for your new baby.

Adoption forms

The African Tails adoption form allows us to get to know you properly, and ensures that you are fully aware of what is expected of you. Please note that no breeding is allowed with an African Tails dog, and all our dogs must be sterilised.

Adoption fees

We don’t make any profit from our adoptions. There is, however, an adoption fee, which covers the pet’s medical care and costs while they have been in our care. The fee ranges from R400 to R800, depending on the care that your dog has received. Once the adoption is official, of course, the rest is up to you.

Congratulations moment

Once everything has been completed and approved, the adoption is official and your dog’s happy ending is finally complete. Enjoy!
